Amiel Weisfogel is a New York City–based painter who studied at Columbia University, the National Academy of Fine Arts, and the Art Students League. His work has received multiple awards and appeared in numerous juried exhibitions, and his paintings are held in private collections across the country.

“There’s something about oil paint I cannot turn away from—its sheen, its smell, its texture,” Weisfogel says. “I try to paint from life in an emotionally vibrant way, focusing on gesture and posture, and on how individuals wrestle with negative space. I’m drawn to those fleeting moments when subjects find—and lose—their place in light and shadow.”
