Bryant Whelan

Bryant Galloway Whelan’s artwork reflects her fascination with forms of nature, their shapes and intrinsic beauty. She forages for leaves, flora, seaweed, fungi, moss, broken shells and seed pods as inspiration for her art. Whelan’s mixed media process combines drawing and painting with stitching, photography, collage and printmaking on paper and fabric. By immortalizing natural imagery Whelan hopes to evoke a reverence for the biodiversity of our environment and shoreline.
A Mobile, Alabama native, Whelan received her BFA from Auburn University. While a lifelong artist, Whelan’s professional career moved her from Savannah to Atlanta to Edinburgh, Scotland; to Nashville, Mobile, and Ocean Springs, Mississippi before finally settling in Fairhope, Alabama. Recently retired as Executive Director of Eastern Shore Art Center, Whelan now creates art full-time in her studio close to her beloved Mobile Bay and Gulf Coast.
