Colleen Terrell Comer
Colleen Terrell Comer makes paintings, installations and sculpture inspired by the buildings, landscapes and objects that she sees as part of her everyday life. Her compositions are often dramatic and use saturated colors to bring out the geometry and shapes of the subjects. Her work attempts to use a personal point of view to explore paint, canvas and the material of the world around her. She wants her work to exist as an individual idea and world, not just as a mere representation, and so begins each piece with the question What is this painting/sculpture/installation made of? (Paint, clay, shapes, fields of color etc) rather than Where/what is this?
