Dawson Morgan says that how a ceramic piece interacts with light and darkness is an important factor in her work. She often incorporates shadow as an important element in her hand built pieces. Morgan says, "Shadow becomes a feature much like color or size." She adds that she has a great appreciation for beauty found in the natural color and texture of the Gulf Coast. "I relish the nuances that add depth and interest to my work." She says she can often be found collecting sticks, vines, shells, or rocks that in turn inspire her art. Morgan's unique pieces, both Raku and Stoneware, can be found at Sophiella.
