Jamie Jorndt

Jamie Jorndt

Painting is like dreaming for Jamie Jorndt. The Wisconsin born-and-raised artist discovered a passion for abstraction after studying under Terrance Coffman in Whitewater, and she never looked back. Her unique acrylic paintings are made with unconventional tools: taping knives and large brushes, charcoal and found objects. What emerges is a fierce boldness that meshes well with her mastery of color. While she harbors no preconceived ideas for end results, Jorndt practically guarantees the evocation of emotion from her color combinations and gestural brushstrokes. Her process of creating allows her to answer questions and resolve challenges, but she also values audience interpretation greatly. Her work carries unpredictable tension between her conscious and subconscious that is only eased by the conclusion of the paintings. “The inception of the idea comes from deep inside of me,” says Jordnt. “When I completely let go, the image will become alive and real.”
