Vikk Turner Finch

Clay holds memory—of the artist who shapes it, its history, and its maker. This belief informs and guides the work of Vikk Turner Finch, a professional clay artist for over thirty years. She creates vessels and forms that carry story as much as function, weaving her background in both literary and visual arts into each piece.

Raised in the South, Finch’s work is deeply marked by gardens and kitchens of family memory, as well as by the old houses and landscapes of France and Europe, where she now travels and works. Tulipieres, sculptural houses, and containers lean toward the architectural and the domestic, always grounded in texture and surface—exploring how clay itself remembers, holding the trace of every hand that shapes it.

Alongside her studio practice, Finch serves as Head of the Visual Arts Department at Bayside Academy. She is also a writer, gardener, and cook, viewing teaching, writing, and making as interconnected ways of passing along memory—just as clay preserves the imprint of the hands that mold it.
